Columbia Libraries - Locating Images : Still and Moving

Columbia’s Libraries, with 9.5 million volumes, more than 100,00 serial titles, and an extensive collection of online databases, ranks as one of the top ten research libraries in the nation. What is not always apparent is how to find the rich collections of images either in books, journals, Butler Media Collection or in our database resources.
 
This one hour session will focus on the most effective search strategies for locating image resources.

NON-CREDIT WRITING WORKSHOP OFFERED

Dear lovely SoA Students,

Are you interested in taking a low-key writing workshop in fiction, poetry, or non-fiction? Sign up for INTRO a non-credit workshop taught by graduate students in the writing division.  Classes meet once a week for 2 hours; submissions will be established by the teacher, and range from 2-3 submissions (a story or essay) a semester, or a poem every week or every other week.  Classes begin this week, but it’s not too late to enroll! All classes are non-credit and free of charge.  We’d love to have students from all divisions try their hand at writing

Wednesday’s alumni panelists at Columbia’s Center for Career Education (CCE) "Careers in: Performing and Fine Arts" panel shared the real story about life in the artists’ world.

It’s difficult to describe the artistic synergy that existed in a room full of artists gathered to empower one another. It was an inspiring and nurturing event… like learning the facts of life from your big sister or brother. WORKSHOP: INTRO TO CREATIVE WRITING

There’s still time to take an INTRO Creative Writing class this year! Playwriting and Fiction classes begin March 23.

Do you write (or want to write) short stories, novels, plays, etc.?  Do you want a space to discuss and improve your work?  Sign up for INTRO!

INTRO is a non-credit creative writing workshop taught by graduate students from the School of the Arts.  The classes are peer workshops and will help you build a portfolio of writing as well as allow you to receive feedback from your peers and teacher.  At the end of the semester, you’ll have an opportunity (voluntary!) to share your work in a reading with other INTRO classes.
