ARC Presents: “Getting and Keeping Health Insurance” Presented by the Actors Fund

This workshop will focus on health care and health insurance options for performing and visual artists in the New York City metro area. The aim is to give participants a firm grounding in health insurance basics, a comprehensive overview of options in our area, and a better ability to make health care coverage-related decisions. We’ll review job-related options, direct-purchase plans, government-subsidized programs, and options for the uninsured, like Artist Access. There will be a Q&A period at the end of the workshop, and time for individual consultations.

Presenter Renata Marinaro is a social worker and Manager of Health Services Education and Outreach at the Health Insurance Resource Center (HIRC) of The Actors Fund. HIRC connects artists, craftspeople and entertainers to health insurance and affordable health care. The Actors Fund is a national, non-profit organization that provides for the social welfare of all entertainment professionals.

Last night, hundreds of students from an array of Columbia schools gathered in Low Rotunda to take part in the annual Columbia University Center for Career Education (CCE) "Media and Publishing Networking Night."   For those SoA students and alumni who participated, it was an amazing event, attracting over 100 professionals working in a diverse set of media and publishing fields, including film and theatre, online and new media, freelance work, print journalism, broadcast journalism, book publishing, and marketing, public relations & advertising.
